E P Jayarajan, the convener of the ruling LDF in Kerala, abstained from the CPI(M) state committee meeting on Saturday, fueling rumors of a potential resignation from his position.
Jayarajan, who returned to his home in Kannur in the morning, declined to comment on his possible resignation as LDF convener when approached by reporters.
The veteran Marxist leader has been under intense scrutiny from his party since he admitted in April to having met BJP leader Prakash Javadekar. In response, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan advised Jayarajan to exercise greater vigilance in his associations.
