BSF and Meghalaya Police Crackdown on Illegal Migration: Apprehend 20 Bangladeshi Nationals

In a strategic operation, BSF and Meghalaya Police apprehended 20 Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian facilitators. Recent operations have heightened border security due to unrest in Bangladesh. The detained individuals were handed over to local authorities for legal procedures.

In a meticulously planned operation on August 10, BSF troops, in collaboration with the Meghalaya Police, apprehended seven Bangladeshi nationals and two Indian facilitators at a checkpoint, the BSF stated on Sunday. In response to ongoing unrest in Bangladesh, BSF Meghalaya has heightened security along the Indo-Bangladesh border, employing a multi-tier dominance strategy.

All apprehended individuals were handed over to the local police for further legal action, the BSF said. Earlier, BSF also apprehended two smugglers and seized cattle and Phensedyl bottles in an operation at the international border.

The BSF also detained 11 Bangladeshi nationals attempting to cross into India--two each from the Bengal and Tripura borders, and seven from the Meghalaya-Bangladesh border. 'During a special drive, BSF field formations apprehended two smugglers and seized cattle and Phensedyl bottles in West Bengal. Additionally, 11 Bangladeshi nationals were detained while infiltrating into India--two each from the Bengal and Tripura borders, and seven from the Meghalaya border,' the BSF reported.
