The Madhya Pradesh forest department will supply 700 pump action guns to the Border Security Force (BSF) for deployment along the international border with Bangladesh, a senior official announced on Friday.
The guns, which fire rubber bullets, have been utilized in Madhya Pradesh to counter armed poachers and tree-felling gangs, according to PK Singh, MP's Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Protection).
'We will provide 700 pump action guns from our armoury to the Border Security Force,' Singh told PTI. He confirmed this decision follows a request from the Union home ministry, aimed at boosting security along the Bangladesh border amid ongoing political unrest in the neighboring country.
