The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday released sketches of four terrorists who were recently seen in Dhoks of Malhar, Bani, and Seojdhar in Kathua district. The police also announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for any actionable information leading to their capture.

In a post on social media platform X, the Police stated, "Kathua Police releases sketches of four terrorists last seen in Dhoks of Malhar, Bani, and Seojdhar. A reward of Rs 5 lakh is offered for each terrorist for actionable information. Anyone with credible information will be suitably rewarded." This comes in the wake of recent terror attacks in the Jammu region, including an attack on an army convoy in Kathua and encounters in Doda and Udhampur.

Previously, on August 7, security forces launched a search operation following an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Khaneed area of Basantgarh, Udhampur. After receiving suspicious activity reports, a Search and Destroy Operation (SADO) was initiated on August 6. DIG Udhampur Reasi Range Rayees Mohammad Bhat said that within hours of launching the operation, contact was established with a group of three to four terrorists, whom they are trying to neutralize.

The operation faces challenges due to the region's hilly terrain and dense forests, coupled with foggy, rainy weather conditions limiting visibility. Meanwhile, Minister of State for Home Affairs Nityanand Rai reported in Lok Sabha that in the past five years, there have been two terrorist attacks on pilgrims with 14 casualties. The central government has implemented Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure the safety of pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir, coordinating security arrangements across multiple agencies.
