Congress leader Sajjan Singh Verma has called for the prosecution of a Madhya Pradesh government official who he alleges changed his statement under political pressure. This change undermined a case where former BJP MLA Aakash Vijayvargiya was accused of assaulting a building inspector with a cricket bat.

The setback for the prosecution came on Monday when Vijayvargiya, son of state minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, and nine others were acquitted by a special court. They had faced charges for attacking a building inspector from the Indore Municipal Corporation in 2019.

The incident reportedly took place on June 26, 2019, involving an altercation over a building's demolition. The building inspector, during court cross-examination, claimed an injury but failed to definitively link it to Vijayvargiya, citing distraction due to a phone call. Verma has accused the police of not properly investigating the matter and labeled them as 'big culprits' in the case.
