In a precautionary move, the Haryana government has suspended mobile internet and bulk SMS services in Nuh district, ahead of the Braj Mandal Jalabhishek Yatra. This suspension is slated to remain in effect until 6 pm on July 22, 2024.

This decision stems from last year's violence during the yatra. Authorities aim to curb the spread of misinformation and rumors via social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, and Twitter. The suspension is intended to protect public safety without impacting the state's commercial or financial interests, or individuals' basic domestic needs.

Telecom service providers in Haryana have been ordered to comply. An official statement from the Haryana government warns of potential disruptions to public utilities and damage to assets due to the misuse of internet services for spreading inflammatory content and false rumors. The order explicitly seeks to prevent the facilitation and mobilization of mobs that could lead to serious violence, property damage, and public disorder.
