Mentally Challenged Woman's False Rape Allegation Sparks Social Media Frenzy

A viral video surfaced of a woman in torn clothes alleging rape, but police later revealed she is mentally challenged and her claims were false. Authorities stated that the woman's family confirmed her mental condition and history of making similar unfounded accusations.

A viral video showing a woman in tattered clothes alleging she was raped has set social media abuzz. However, police on Thursday clarified that the woman is mentally challenged and her allegations are ''false''.

In the video, filmed by a passerby in the Lal Kuan area, the woman claimed she was dragged, assaulted, and raped by an unidentified person. Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wave City) Poonam Mishra said the woman was removed from the scene by a police team and her family was contacted.

''Her brother informed us she is undergoing treatment for mental health issues and has a history of making such baseless accusations,'' Mishra stated, adding that the woman has been safely handed over to her family.
