Germany is imposing new regulations to ensure Chinese discount retailers, including Temu and Shein, adhere to stringent standards for product safety, environmental protection, consumer rights, and customs and tax laws, Capital magazine reported.
The country's primary retail association, HDE, has been lobbying the government to create a level playing field for all market participants. They argue that customs authorities currently lack the capacity to ensure all products meet European Union regulations.
The exchange rate stands at $1 to 0.9014 euros.
