A 28-year-old ice cream vendor in southeast Delhi was critically injured after two bike-borne assailants accidentally shot him in the head, police reported on Friday.

The incident occurred Thursday night at Ravidas Marg near Govindpuri Bus Stand. Police said Vijay Maurya, the ice cream vendor, was found lying in a pool of blood with a bullet wound. Maurya was immediately transported to AIIMS Trauma Centre, where he remains in critical condition.

Authorities initially believe the assailants aimed to attack a man named Jagdish, alias Jagga, but misfired, hitting Maurya instead. A case has been registered at Govindpuri police station, and efforts are underway to apprehend the culprits.
