The Maharashtra Public Service Commission (MPSC) announced the postponement of the Maharashtra Gazetted Civil Services Combined Preliminary Examination, initially scheduled for August 25, amid protests from job aspirants. The protests began in Pune on Tuesday night, drawing attention to the clash with the Indian Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) clerical test and other demands.
The MPSC stated on social media that a new date for the exam would be disclosed soon. However, the announcement did little to appease the protesters, who continued to demand the inclusion of 258 additional posts from the agriculture department in the exam.
A tense situation unfolded in Pune as five agitators were detained after attempting to block a key road. They were later released. Notable political figures, including NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, have shown support for the protesters, with Pawar threatening to join the agitation if the government fails to address the issue promptly.
