The Ministry of Education on Thursday inaugurated the second phase of its Capacity Building Programme on Specific Learning Disability (SLD) as part of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP), according to officials.

Designed to equip Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) with the essential skills and knowledge, the programme aims to support students facing specific learning disabilities. Higher Education Secretary Sanjay Murthy emphasized NEP 2020's recognition of learning disabilities and the need for HEIs to be well-informed and sensitive to the challenges these students face.

The initial phase of the programme ran from January to July this year in collaboration with Changeinkk Foundation, involving 27 HEIs, including major universities and technical institutes. The newly launched cycle, running until December, involves online and in-person sessions focusing on identification and assessment strategies for SLD students. The programme will feature workshops, seminars, and practical sessions to foster inclusive learning environments, to be replicated every six months with new HEIs.
