UAE Hosts Pioneering GCC Workshop on Drug Combat Strategy

The UAE Ministry of Interior is conducting a workshop to formulate the GCC Strategy for Combating Drugs (2025-2028) in Abu Dhabi from September 16-19. Supported by the GCC General Secretariat and the UN Office on Drugs and Crime, the event aims to develop a unified Gulf model to tackle drug-related issues.

The UAE Ministry of Interior is set to host the influential workshop titled 'Preparing the GCC Strategy for Combating Drugs (2025-2028)', from September 16 to 19 in Abu Dhabi. Organized by the General Secretariat of the GCC in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the event marks a significant step in unified Gulf efforts against drugs.

This workshop convenes key stakeholders from various sectors, including representatives from Ministries of Interior, Justice, Health, Education, Social Affairs, and Information. It also includes news agencies, customs and ports authorities, the Criminal Information Center for Combating Drugs, and representatives from the Money Laundering Committee, Border Guards, and Coast Guards of the GCC states. The goal is to create a pioneering Gulf model with best practices in combating drug issues.

Aimed at aligning with United Nations standards, the workshop will focus on strengthening societal security and preserving regional achievements. Through interactive discussions, the event aims to foster innovative ideas and explore new pathways to bolster global efforts in drug prevention and control. The workshop will share scientific knowledge, practical expertise, and analyze drug market trends to develop effective combat strategies.

The ultimate aim is to achieve high-quality outcomes, enhance Gulf legislation, and establish a comprehensive roadmap to curb the spread of drugs and psychotropic substances, thereby protecting individuals and ensuring societal stability.
