The Federation of Central Universities Teachers' Associations (FEDCUTA) organized a workshop at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on Wednesday, reiterating its call to rescind the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Highlighting what it described as the detrimental impact of NEP 2020, the workshop addressed issues such as the commercialization of education, eroding academic standards, and reduced equitable access to higher education. Faculty from various central and state universities voiced their objections, also criticizing the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) and the assignment of election duties to university teachers.

FEDCUTA President Moushumi Basu told PTI, 'All organizations participating in the workshop resolved to intensify their struggle for the scrapping of the NEP and reinstatement of the Old Pension Scheme, among other issues.' JNU economics professor Surajit Mazumdar added that UPS fails to offer teachers and employees a guaranteed secure post-retirement life, which is critical for long-term dedication in public service.

The workshop further discussed the opposition to assigning election duties to university faculty members, a stance strongly supported by FEDCUTA.
