Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the imperative to increase exports from eastern India, urging state governments in the region to cooperate with the Center.

He highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring the region benefits from various free trade agreements under the export promotion policy. This year's budget underscored eastern India as a priority area for development under the Purvodaya scheme, with a significant focus on infrastructure creation.

Pradhan, speaking at a CII-organized Exim Conference, noted the initiation of long-term policy reforms, especially in the mineral sector, which are already benefiting eastern states. He called for diversification beyond minerals into sectors like food processing, marine products, animal husbandry, and IT. He stressed the need for law and order to attract industrial development and job creation.
