CJI Highlights Need for Female-Friendly Court Infrastructure in Districts
Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud emphasized the urgent need for more female-friendly court infrastructure at the district level, which currently stands at only 6.7%. Speaking at the National Conference of District Judiciary, he highlighted various measures to increase accessibility and ensure a safe environment for all, especially women and vulnerable groups.

Chief Justice of India (CJI) D Y Chandrachud on Sunday addressed the pressing issue of inadequate female-friendly court infrastructure, noting that only 6.7 per cent of district-level courts are compatible with female needs.
During his speech at the 'National Conference of District Judiciary', Chandrachud emphasized the importance of creating a safe and accommodating environment for all members of society, particularly women and other vulnerable groups such as persons with disabilities and members of Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
Chandrachud also highlighted recent initiatives aimed at improving court accessibility, including infrastructural audits, in-court medical facilities, creches, technological projects like e-seva Kendras, and video conferencing devices. Additionally, Chandrachud stated that with the increasing number of women in the judiciary, it is crucial to confront implicit biases within the legal profession.
