Ukraine Escalates Drone Warfare Targeting Russian Infrastructure
Ukraine launched multiple drone attacks targeting power plants and oil refineries in Moscow and Tver regions. Several drones were destroyed, but no significant damage was reported. Ukraine's growing drone industry and ongoing appeals to the U.S. for more powerful weapons underscore escalating tensions amidst the ongoing conflict.
In a significant escalation, Ukraine launched sustained drone attacks on power and refinery plants in the Moscow and Tver regions, according to Russian officials and media on Sunday. While numerous drones were destroyed, no serious damage was reported across the sites, including major central Russia energy producers and the Moscow Oil Refinery.
Governor of Tver, Igor Rudenya, confirmed the destruction of five drones over his region with no mention of damage. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that another drone was neutralized near the Moscow Oil Refinery, ensuring continued operations. Attempts to strike Kashira Power Plant in Moscow were also thwarted without casualties or disruptions to electricity supply.
In total, at least 26 drones were destroyed over the Bryansk region and several more over the Voronezh, Kursk, Lipetsk, Ryazan, and Tula regions. Ukrainian officials, currently lobbying the U.S. for more advanced weaponry, assert that such capabilities are crucial for defending against and countering Russia's ongoing aggression.
