Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal will chair a crucial meeting with state industry ministers on September 5 to focus on strategies for promoting the country's industrial growth, an official disclosed.

Highlighting that industry is a state subject and thus involves key stakeholders at the state level, the meeting will cover diverse issues such as manufacturing promotion and state-specific concerns.

The central government is already taking steps to ease compliance burdens and enhance the ease of doing business, which includes the establishment of industrial townships. Recently, the Government of India gave the green light for 12 new industrial cities across 10 states, with an estimated investment of Rs 28,602 crore, aimed at boosting domestic manufacturing.

These industrial zones will span across multiple regions including Khurpia in Uttarakhand and Rajpura-Patiala in Punjab. Eight industrial cities are already in various development stages, with complete trunk infrastructure in four of them and ongoing basic infrastructure construction in others. The expansion is set to bring the total number of industrial cities to 20.

Additionally, the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) is focusing on establishing incubation centers for startups within the manufacturing sector.
