Steel maker Kamdhenu reported a 28% increase in profit after tax (PAT) to Rs 15.43 crore for the April-June quarter, benefiting from lower expenses.

In the same period last year, the company recorded a PAT of Rs 12.06 crore. Total income for the latest quarter fell to Rs 191.10 crore, down from Rs 210.45 crore a year ago, according to an exchange filing.

Expenses dropped significantly to Rs 171.05 crore from Rs 194.26 crore over the same timeframe. Chairman & Managing Director Satish Kumar Agarwal attributed the revenue dip to the General Election and severe heat waves, which hampered construction activities. However, he expressed confidence that demand will improve due to the government's strong focus on infrastructure projects. Gurugram-based Kamdhenu is a key player in the TMT manufacturing sector, holding a 20% market share.
