Indian Men's Hockey Team captain Harmanpreet Singh has been nominated for the FIH Player of the Year Award, following standout performances in the FIH Hockey Pro League and the Paris Olympics.

Harmanpreet, who has previously won the prestigious award in 2020-21 and 2021-22, expressed his gratitude, stating, 'It is a great honour to be nominated again. While I am elated, I acknowledge it would not have been possible without my team. The goals I scored were thanks to goal-scoring chances created by my team.'

He has been nominated alongside top international players, including Thierry Brinkman and Joep de Mol (NED), Hannes Muller (GER), and Zach Wallace (ENG). The selection considered performances across multiple international matches in 2024.

Harmanpreet led the Indian team to a Bronze medal at the Paris Olympics, scoring 10 goals, with seven from penalty corners. Reflecting on the Olympics, he noted, 'The highlight of my career so far. The team's support was crucial, especially after a challenging World Cup.'

After a short breather, Harmanpreet set his sights on the Hero Asian Champions Trophy 2024 in Moqi, China, where he led the team to victory, scoring seven goals in seven games. With 205 goals in 226 matches, he stands among hockey legends like Major Dhyan Chand and Balbir Singh Sr.

Looking forward, Harmanpreet aims to bring back the 'glory days' of Indian hockey and urged fans to support the team as they prepare for the next Olympic cycle.
