In the post-match presentation, Atkinson expressed his delight, calling the achievement 'incredible' and highlighting the special moment of batting alongside Joe Root. 'I enjoy bowling with the slope at Lord's; it has gone my way, and I hope it continues,' said Atkinson, who emphasized the team's aggressive approach and his readiness to take on demanding roles.

England's first innings saw Joe Root (143) and Atkinson (118) power the team to 427, countered by Sri Lanka's Asitha Fernando, who took 5 wickets.
