In addition to Nunez, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ronald Araujo, Jose Maria Gimenez, and Mathias Olivera received various suspensions for their involvement in the altercations. The Uruguay FA was fined $20,000, and a total of 11 players have been sanctioned.
Nunez, fined $20,000, will serve his suspension in upcoming World Cup qualifiers, facing opponents including Paraguay and Venezuela in September, and Peru and Ecuador in October. The incident has cast a shadow over Uruguay's preparations for these crucial fixtures.
