Yash Dhull, who led India to victory in the 2022 U-19 World Cup, is back on the cricket field after undergoing minor heart surgery.

Rajesh Nagar, Dhull's long-time coach, confirmed the successful procedure, revealing that a small hole in Dhull's heart was discovered during routine checks at the U-23 high performance camp at the NCA.

'It was a minor surgery and Dhull took around 10-15 days to recover. Although he is not at his peak fitness yet, he is playing at 80 percent capacity,' Nagar reported on Wednesday.

This condition, usually a birth defect, was unexpectedly found in Dhull only recently. However, Nagar assures that Dhull will return to his best form soon.

Currently, Dhull is participating in the Delhi Premier League, where he has scored 93 runs in five innings, with a highest score of 52 and a strike rate of 113.41.

At just 21 years old, Dhull has experienced the highs and lows of a cricketing career, including leading India to an U-19 World Cup title and facing setbacks like his removal as captain of Delhi's Ranji team due to form and politics.

Despite his talents, technical questions have limited his opportunities with India A and the IPL team Delhi Capitals.
