Angel Gomes Released from Hospital After Unconscious Collision
Lille midfielder Angel Gomes has been released from the hospital after a severe collision during a Ligue 1 match against Stade Reims. The match was paused for over 30 minutes as Gomes received treatment. He later assured fans of his recovery in an Instagram video.
Lille midfielder Angel Gomes was taken to the hospital after being knocked unconscious during Saturday's Ligue 1 match at Stade Reims. The game was interrupted for over 30 minutes while medical staff treated the 23-year-old on the pitch following a collision with Reims midfielder Amadou Kone.
Gomes, a former Manchester United player, was carried off the field on a stretcher as fans from both clubs chanted his name. Kone was subsequently sent off, and Lille went on to win the match 2-0.
"I'm okay, I'm back home. I've been looked after and I'm feeling good," Gomes reassured fans in an Instagram video posted on Sunday. He expressed gratitude to the medical staff and fans for their support. "This crazy collision, these things happen in football. But the most important thing is that I'm okay, and we won three points," he added. Gomes also humorously noted, "P.S. Remind me not to jump for no more headers."
