Police have registered a case against a couple for allegedly assaulting a cab driver in Ghatkopar after their luxury car was hit by the cab, authorities confirmed on Friday. The violent encounter was captured by a nearby CCTV camera.
According to information from the Parksite police, the altercation occurred as Rishabh, a resident of the society, was driving into the premises with an Ola cab following closely behind. The cab slightly collided with Rishabh's car when they stopped in the lane, prompting Rishabh and a woman companion to exit their vehicle and assault the cab driver. Rishabh lifted the driver and slammed him to the ground, inflicting serious injuries. A case was filed based on the statement of the 24-year-old cab driver, Qayamuddin Mainuddin Qureshi, but no arrests have been made yet.
Qureshi, a resident of Govandi, was initially taken to Rajawadi Hospital by security personnel but was later transferred to JJ Hospital due to the severity of his head injuries. The case was registered once he regained consciousness. Police have issued notices to the driver and the woman involved, and further investigation is underway, according to ANI.
