In a decisive move, the Uttar Pradesh government has declared the Mahasi Tehsil of Bahraich district a 'Wildlife Disaster' area due to increasing wolf attacks on humans, informed a state minister on Wednesday.
According to Fisheries Minister Sanjay Kumar Nishad, this designation will not only accelerate 'Operation Bhediya', aimed at capturing the attacking wolves but will also facilitate hassle-free compensation for affected families.
Environmental Minister Arun Saxena and Nishad held meetings with district officials to discuss the recent wolf attacks, visited injured victims in the hospital, and directed the administration to ensure optimal medical care. Expert teams have been summoned to resolve the crisis promptly.
