A toddler was killed and a 70-year-old woman injured in separate wolf attacks in the Mahsi division of this district, officials confirmed on Monday.

District Magistrate Monika Rani reported that this marks the eighth fatality in wolf attacks since July 17, predominantly involving children.

On Sunday, two-and-a-half-year-old Anjali was seized from her home in the Garethi Gurudutt Singh village and later found mutilated. In another incident on Monday, Kamala Devi, 70, from Mauja Kotiya village was attacked in her house and is now in stable condition at the district hospital.

Authorities have caught four wolves but continue efforts to apprehend more. Rani highlighted the difficulty due to the district's 100+ revenue villages and advised residents to stay indoors at night. Superintendent of Police Vrinda Shukla and other officials are closely monitoring the situation and ensuring proper medical care for the victims.
