A two-year-old girl was killed, and two women were injured in a series of wolf attacks in Bahraich district, Uttar Pradesh, with additional reports of attacks from the neighboring Sitapur district.
District Magistrate Monika Rani confirmed this as the eighth fatal wolf attack since July 17, with seven children among the deceased and around 30 people injured. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath is set to review the situation through videoconferencing on Monday.
The attacks have heightened fear among residents, prompting local authorities to capture four wolves and advise residents to sleep indoors or on rooftops. Additional reports from Sitapur indicate similar attacks, but forest officials suspect jackals rather than wolves.
