Fear has gripped the residents of Bahraich and Sitapur districts following a series of wolf attacks that have resulted in eight deaths and numerous injuries. A two-year-old girl was killed and a septuagenarian woman injured in separate incidents, prompting heightened vigilance among local authorities.

District Magistrate Monika Rani confirmed that seven children were among those killed since July. Authorities have caught four wolves, but the vast number of revenue villages has complicated mitigation efforts. Residents are being advised to sleep indoors or on rooftops to avoid further attacks.

In Sitapur, three women were injured in attacks initially attributed to wolves, although later investigations suggested jackals might be responsible. Divisional Forest Officer Naveen Khandelwal urged residents to report sightings of wild animals promptly to prevent widespread panic.
