The man, presumed to be washed away by the flood, became stuck between boulders, unable to move due to the thick marsh and powerful current. The scene, recorded by a local villager, highlighted the dire situation in Mundakkai village, where scores of people were trapped following early morning landslides triggered by heavy rains.

The visuals were broadcasted on television, pressing authorities to deploy rescue teams. Raghavan, a block panchayat member who recorded the video, disclosed the man was first noticed at 7:30 am, struggling to stay above the water. Despite seeing the man's plight, villagers couldn't reach him due to the hazardous conditions.

Rescue efforts are ongoing, with people clinging to each other to avoid being washed away. Elderly men and women are being evacuated using temporary metal bridges in areas isolated by the landslides.
