In a sharp rejoinder, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge for allegedly suppressing memories of personal tragedy for political gain. Speaking at a rally in Amravati, Adityanath accused Kharge of remaining silent on his family's death at the hands of Razakars to avoid alienating Muslim voters.
Adityanath alleged that Congress, historically focused on vote bank politics, has overlooked atrocities in the past, citing Kharge's reluctance to recount the violent past involving his village and family. The UP CM framed this as a pattern of Congress's broader attitude toward history and community relations.
Highlighting past tensions, Adityanath argued that divisions within the nation could lead to severe communal tensions, referencing historical incidents such as the actions of the Nizam and the 1946 partition. The political exchange seemed to intensify following Kharge's comments about Adityanath's attire, sparking the current rhetorical battle.
