Reacting to the speculations of the AAP-Congress alliance in Haryana, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala criticized the INDIA alliance, claiming it lacks both mission and vision. He pointed out the irony of the same parties being rivals in Punjab and Delhi, yet considering an alliance in Haryana as a sign of desperation.

Poonawalla accused the opposition parties of having no clear agenda besides their shared ambition and obsession with Prime Minister Modi. He said, "They want to protect their corruption, forming alliances sporadically, which often break apart. In Punjab, AAP and Congress are adversaries; in Delhi, they once allied. Now in Haryana, their indecision is evident."

On September 6, AAP MP Raghav Chaddha announced ongoing talks with Congress for a potential alliance in Haryana, citing national interest. AICC in-charge of Haryana, Deepak Babaria, confirmed the discussions, noting approaches from other INDIA bloc members like CPI(M) and Samajwadi Party. Haryana's 90-member legislative assembly election is scheduled for October 5, with votes counted on October 8.
