A video of Shiv Sena MLA Yamini Jadhav distributing burqas to Muslim women went viral on Thursday, drawing criticism from the ruling BJP, which termed it as 'appeasement politics.'
Jadhav, representing the Byculla constituency with a significant Muslim population, stated in the video that the distribution was not aimed at influencing the upcoming state elections.
BJP Mumbai president Ashish Shelar remarked that while it was the prerogative of an MLA to distribute items, the BJP does not support such appeasement. Sushma Andhare of the rival Shiv Sena (UBT) claimed Jadhav is being targeted due to her association with turncoat MLAs who often discuss Hindutva.
