SBL Energy Limited Opens New TNT Plant in Maharashtra
SBL Energy Limited has launched a new TNT manufacturing plant in Nagpur, Maharashtra. This plant aims to produce 3,000 tonnes of TNT annually for export to global markets including Australia, Europe, and the US. The initiative supports India's defense manufacturing, reducing import dependence and boosting domestic production.

Industrial explosives manufacturer SBL Energy Limited has inaugurated a new TNT (Trinitrotoluene) plant at its Maharashtra facility, capable of producing 3,000 tonnes annually. The new plant, located in Yenvera, Nagpur, aims to triple the company's overseas shipments to markets including Australia, Europe, and the US.
Former defence secretary Ajay Kumar officiated the inauguration, with CEO Alok Choudhari and President Divyansh Choudhari, among other dignitaries, in attendance. Kumar emphasized that this development reflects changing government policies that are reshaping the country's defense and aerospace sectors.
SBL Energy Chairman Sanjay Choudhari noted that the robust manufacturing capacity would cater to the increasing demand for explosives, driven by industrialization, construction, and mining. This is part of the company's strategy to enhance India's defense infrastructure and promote self-reliance, aligning with government missions to boost indigenous production and exports.
