Traffic on the Ghodbunder Road in Maharashtra's Thane city faced significant disruption early Tuesday morning following an accident involving a container truck carrying a chemical. According to a civic official, the incident, which occurred shortly after midnight, did not result in any injuries.

The container truck, en route from Nhava Seva to Punjab, overturned near the Patlipada bridge at around 12.15 am, spilling its 27-tonne load of aqueous ammonia solution. Yasin Tadvi, chief of the Disaster Management Cell at Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC), confirmed that emergency services were immediately mobilised to handle the situation.

Local firefighters, the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) team, and two hydra machines were deployed to the scene. The chemical company responsible for the cargo was informed, and the spill was managed effectively. Five hours later, the road was cleared and normal traffic flow was restored, reported Tadvi.
