The Congress on Friday denounced the BJP's manifesto for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly polls, calling it a 'jumla patra' and accusing the party of making false promises to various sections of society.

The Congress alleged that during the BJP's tenure, people were weighed down by heavy taxes, smart meters, unprecedented unemployment, and record inflation.

On the other hand, the BJP released its manifesto, promising 25 guarantees, including issuing a white paper for accountability and restoring 100 'ruined temples' in Kashmir.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled the manifesto during a press conference on the first day of his two-day tour to initiate the party's election campaign, which also includes plans for the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri migrant pundits and the creation of five lakh jobs.

The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) emphasized that the BJP has been in power in Jammu and Kashmir since 2014 and questioned why the initiatives proposed were not implemented during their rule, instead alleging heavy taxes and increased prices on essential goods.

A Congress spokesman highlighted the ongoing protests by daily wagers, need-based workers, and other employees.

The Congress further criticized the BJP's omission of statehood restoration for Jammu and Kashmir, demanding clarity on their accomplishments since it was made a Union Territory.
