National Conference leader Omar Abdullah on Friday alleged that the BJP-ruled Centre is fielding independent candidates against him in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly elections to silence his voice.
Abdullah, addressing election rallies in the Ganderbal Assembly segment, stated that he always anticipated attempts from Delhi to suppress him but was surprised by the lengths they would go to, referencing his loss in Baramulla Lok Sabha elections to a candidate who campaigned from jail.
He expressed concerns over similar tactics being used in the current Assembly elections where another jailed individual is contesting against him, suggesting a deliberate conspiracy by the central government. Abdullah emphasized his fight for the people of Jammu and Kashmir against what he believes are orchestrated efforts to undermine his political influence.
