The high-stakes electoral battle in the Chenab Valley has intensified as the National Conference (NC)-Congress alliance seeks to tip the scales in its favor following the withdrawal of DPAP leaders from four seats.

The eight assembly segments of Doda, Kishtwar, and Ramban, along with 16 seats from south Kashmir, will vote in the first phase of elections on September 18. A total of 219 candidates, including 64 from the Chenab Valley, are in the fray, representing a mix of former ministers, women, and independents.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the People's Democratic Party (PDP) are launching extensive campaigns to challenge their rivals and secure pivotal victories in these crucial elections.
