Union Minister G Kishan Reddy on Thursday demanded the Congress clarify its position on Article 370, following a resolution by its ally, the National Conference, to revoke it.
Reddy chaired an organizational meeting aimed at reviewing the BJP's preparation for the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections. He questioned the Congress on the National Conference's manifesto, which aims to reverse rights granted to various people in the Union Territory.
The National Conference's manifesto includes the restoration of Article 370 and Jammu and Kashmir's statehood as key guarantees. Reddy asked whether the Congress and National Conference intended to 'snatch the rights' of multiple communities, including West Pakistani refugees and tribals. The BJP criticized the Congress-National Conference alliance, labeling it an 'expired alliance' with no impact on BJP's electoral prospects. The three-phase elections are set for September 18, September 25, and October 1, with results on October 4.
