The Gujarat assembly on Wednesday passed a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third consecutive victory in the Lok Sabha elections.
The government resolution, moved by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel on the first day of the monsoon session, was passed through a majority voice vote as the opposition Congress did not support the ruling party's move.
Chief Minister Patel remarked on the remarkable journey of Modi, emphasizing how a humble party worker rose to become Prime Minister for three terms. He expressed pride and joy on behalf of Gujarat and congratulated Modi for leading the world's largest democracy.
