Former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, who turns 100 next month, is eagerly awaiting his chance to vote for Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Despite being in hospice care and losing his wife Rosalynn, he remains politically engaged, his grandson Jason Carter revealed on Wednesday.
Carter, who served from 1977 to early 1981, has surpassed any other U.S. president in post-office longevity. Early in-person voting in Georgia begins on Oct. 15, just days after his centennial birthday.
Carter's grandson emphasized his excitement for the upcoming election and the potential to move past the Donald Trump era. A centennial celebration is being planned for Carter in Atlanta by the Carter Center, led by his grandson.
