The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) stated on Monday that it backs the collection of data on specific communities or castes, as long as it is used for welfare and not political exploitation.
Speaking at a media briefing following a three-day conclave known as Samanway Baithak, RSS Akhil Bharatiya Prachar Pramukh Sunil Ambekar emphasized the sensitivity of caste issues within Hindu society, highlighting their importance for national unity and integrity.
Ambekar's remark comes in the context of ongoing demands by opposition parties, including the Congress and Samajwadi Party, for a caste census to support effective policymaking.
