Senior CPI(M) leader and former Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar has alleged that the BJP-led central government is attempting to establish a fascistic regime by introducing legislation for simultaneous elections.
The 'One Nation One Election' bills, which require constitutional amendments, were recently introduced in the Lok Sabha. Sarkar argues this move is a diversion from critical issues such as inflation, unemployment, and agricultural distress.
Highlighting historical context, Sarkar criticized the Congress, claiming they disrupted the tradition of simultaneous elections for their gain. He expressed doubts about the bills' passage in Parliament and criticized Union Home Minister Amit Shah for comments about B R Ambedkar.
