The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday launched a fierce attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of destroying crucial evidence in the sexual assault and murder case of a female trainee doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
Addressing a press conference, BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia termed Mamata as the "destroyer" and demanded her resignation. Bhatia criticized Banerjee, who also holds the Home and Health Ministry portfolios, for her handling of the case and claimed that the public is outraged by her actions.
The case has sparked nationwide protests, with civil societies and doctors demanding justice and better security. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has taken over the investigation, employing advanced techniques such as 3D laser mapping. The Supreme Court of India, led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, will hear the matter on August 20.
