Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday accused the JMM-led alliance government in Jharkhand of engaging in politics of ''appeasement'' in the aftermath of a tragic murder.
Sarma, serving as the election co-incharge for BJP in Jharkhand, visited Bengabad in Giridih district to meet the family of Havaldar Chouhan Hembram, who was brutally killed by a convicted prisoner on August 12 in a Hazaribag hospital.
No legislator from the JMM or Congress has met the grieving family, Sarma revealed after meeting Hembram's mother. The accused, Shahid Ansari, escaped from custody following the murder. Sarma criticized the administration for failing to act swiftly. During his visit, Sarma pledged BJP's support to the family and urged the state government for the immediate arrest and hanging of the accused along with the provision of a job to Hembram's kin.
