Expelled Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) leader Lobin Hembrom has joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), citing widespread discontent within his former party. Hembrom, who was expelled from JMM for six years earlier this year, made the announcement in Ranchi on Saturday in the presence of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.
Highlighting internal issues within JMM, Hembrom stated, "Do you not know that everyone is upset in Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) due to a few people? JMM is not JMM anymore." He emphasized his commitment to safeguarding the interests of tribals and natives, raising concerns about infiltration from Bangladesh.
This political shift comes ahead of the upcoming 81-member legislative assembly election in Jharkhand, slated for later this year. While the Election Commission of India is yet to announce the dates, Assam CM Sarma extended an invitation to newly-joined BJP member Champai Soren to visit Assam. Soren joined BJP a day earlier alongside prominent leaders like Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, CM Sarma, and Babulal Marandi.
