The opposition Congress in Meghalaya has suspended MLAs Gabriel Wahlang and Charles Marngar amid allegations of their association with the ruling National People's Party (NPP).
According to state Congress general secretary Wansuk Syiem, the suspensions were a result of anti-party activities reported by both the block committee and a frontal organization.
"Such actions are in direct conflict with the party's ideologies and principles, necessitating this disciplinary measure," Syiem stated. An internal investigation revealed their months-long association with the NPP; however, the inquiry into MLA Celestine Lyngdoh is still ongoing.
