Jaishankar

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met with Maldivian President Mohamed Muizzu on Saturday, underscoring New Delhi's commitment to enhancing India-Maldives relations for the greater benefit of both nations and the region.

Jaishankar's three-day official visit to the Maldives marks the first high-level trip from India since Muizzu, known for his pro-China stance, assumed office last year. The visit aims to reset bilateral relations and explore new avenues of cooperation.

In a statement on X, Jaishankar conveyed the greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and reaffirmed the commitment to strengthening the partnership. Muizzu echoed this sentiment, thanking India for its support and highlighting joint efforts in security, development, and cultural exchange. This visit follows President Muizzu's trip to India in June for Modi's swearing-in ceremony, reflecting a continued focus on mutual cooperation.
