US-Dominican Talks Focus on Haiti Crisis Amid Regional Security Concerns
The US Secretary of State and Dominican Republic's leader held discussions on various topics, primarily focusing on Haiti's crisis. US Secretary of State Antony Blinken emphasized the need for security in Haiti. Blinken announced a $3 million investment in the Dominican economy and $45 million aid for Haiti.

The United States Secretary of State and the leader of the Dominican Republic held essential talks on Friday, touching on critical issues such as human rights, economic growth, and regional security. The escalating crisis in Haiti, however, stole the spotlight during their discussions.
US Secretary of State Antony Blinken visited the Dominican Republic as part of a regional tour, with an agenda heavily centered on addressing the violence in neighbouring Haiti. Blinken and Dominican President Luis Abinader discussed the concerns over the mission's lack of resources and the impact of escaped inmates from gang raids in Haiti earlier this year.
The migration surge from Haiti has significantly strained the Dominican Republic's schools and hospitals. Blinken announced a $3 million USAID investment targeting workforce training and industrial parks to bolster the Dominican economy, along with an additional $45 million in humanitarian aid for Haiti.
