An alarming incident unfolded in Ismailabad village when a commission agent from the local grain market was fatally shot by two bike-riding assailants, police informed on Sunday.

The tragic event took place on Saturday evening as Har Vilas, 69, was driving his vehicle. According to police reports, the attackers shattered the car's glass before one of them fired three shots, striking Vilas in the neck and chest. He was first rushed to a hospital and then transferred to a private medical facility in Ambala, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigations by Superintendent of Police Varun Singhla suggest that the violent act might have stemmed from an old rivalry. Efforts to apprehend the culprits are ongoing, while the incident has spread fear among commission agents in the grain market. The Grain Market Commission Agents Association President, Vinod Kansal, has since demanded increased police presence to ensure their safety during the ongoing paddy procurement season.
