Chinese security firm Nuctech has launched a new appeal against a judgment from an EU court that dismissed its bid to temporarily block a European Commission inspection. According to Nuctech, the appeal, filed on Tuesday, contests the earlier ruling by the EU General Court in Luxembourg, Europe’s second-highest legal authority.
Nuctech stated that the court's decision was not the result of a thorough legal review, failing to convincingly explain the rejection. The company emphasized its commitment to defending its rights while cooperating with the European Commission. Nuctech expressed confidence that the appeal will lead to a fairer judgment.
The controversy began after Nuctech challenged the European Commission over raids at its Dutch and Polish offices, denying allegations of unauthorized state support. However, the General Court ruled the Commission can investigate all entities operating in the EU to check for possible violations of EU law. Nuctech, producing scanners for over 170 countries, was blacklisted by the U.S. as a security threat in 2020.
